Robocup Success

Last week Year 11 students Joseph Ivory, James Matheson, Jan Mueller, and Oliver Sundin competed in the Wellington Region Robocup senior rescue competition. They came 1st and will go to the nationals in September. The original  Robocup rescue competition was introduced to encourage researchers into disaster-rescue following the Kobe earthquake. The concept has been transferred to a school competition that encourages teamwork, computer science and engineering skills. Students build a robot that can follow a line, navigate obstacles, and ‘rescue’ a tin can, all without remote control or human intervention.
