Our Physics Stars

It has been a very successful year for Physics at Wellington High School. Our WHS physics team (Luke Porteous, Callum MacRae and Stanley Sarkies) won the regional tournament and came second in the Nationals. This led to Luke and Stan being selected for the NZ Physics team, meaning that of the team of five students, two were from High! Luke and Stan went to Shrewsbury, England, to represent their country and NZ came 6th out of 28 countries. Stan and Luke were awarded silver medals for this achievement.

Next week the WHS Junior Young Physicists Team (Shakked Noy, Joseph Ivory, Jack Tregidga and Callum Davidson) travel to Korea to compete in the fifth Junior Young Physicists tournament for the Asia Pacific region. Last year they came second, so this year we are hoping for a win against schools from Singapore, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
