What’s Happening?

Battle of the Bibliophiles Competition

In a test of speed and knowledge, our enthusiastic Year 10 Team: Kura Price, Alice Willcocks, Isla Kalderimis, Emelie Fontan and Maikayla Farrington battled technical difficulties to answer 100 rapid-fire questions across six different books. Their fantastic effort earned them a well-deserved 6th place in the national competition.

Assembly with the local MP

Approximately 400 students, mostly in year 10, met the local MP for Wellington Central, Tamatha Paul, during a special assembly/talk about politics and civics. Tamatha talked about the electoral system, party politics, the important role of an electorate MP, and answered a range of thought-provoking questions from students. This complemented the mahi some year 10 students have been doing in Social Studies on systems of government and civic participation. Students left knowing they can contact their local MP if they need help with an issue or want to voice their opinion on or ask about a political topic. Tamatha also spoke to year 13 Economics students last year about issues in the housing market and related Government policies
