Protect against measles
Confirmed measles cases linked to overseas travel have recently been identified in Aotearoa.
Low immunity, and the close contact nature of education settings, means one infected person could expose and spread measles to many others.
To be immune, you must have had measles before or have had two doses of a measles vaccine after the age of 12 months.
Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand is encouraging school kaimahi to look for the signs and symptoms of measles and to check their immunisation status:

What’s Happening
Outdoor Education – Rarotonga 2025
Our group of Year 13 Outdoor Education students recently returned from an unforgettable ten-day journey to Rarotonga. From the moment we landed, the island welcomed us with warm weather, stunning landscapes, and crystal-clear waters.
Some of the major highlights included an incredible Lagoon Cruise with Captain Tama, snorkelling with turtles, and the awe-inspiring Cross Island Walk. One of the most memorable moments came as students scrambled up Te Kou Maunga, where they were rewarded with breathtaking views across the entire island.
Throughout the trip, students demonstrated independence, teamwork, and curiosity as they explored the local culture, planned group dinners, and took responsibility for organising and managing daily activities. It was an awesome time with an awesome group of students.
A huge thank you to staff members Jason Reddish, Tom Lancashire, Simon Russell, Maia Grace-Paul, and Chandra Littlewood for their commitment, enthusiasm, and leadership throughout the journey.
We are proud of the way our students represented WHS and can’t wait to see where the next adventure takes us!
Playground Live Music
Playground Live Music would like to invite your students to attend its next live music event at Thistle Hall, 293 Cuba St, on the 26th of July.
The acts performing are The Side Characters (Wellington College), Dude We’re Screwed (Upper Hutt), and The JayJs (Wellington High School).
