Important Information
School Alert programme
Wellington High School has signed up to the School Alert Programme – a wellbeing-focused initiative led by the Ministry of Education and Police.
The purpose of the programme is to notify WHS should one of our students be affected by a family harm event. The Ministry of Education monitors alerts from Police sending a notification to WHS as the student’s enrolling school. Once received, WHS is able to assist a student through provision of appropriate and sensitive support in a timely manner.
Government launches education portal for caregivers and whānau
The government’s new parent portal has been designed to help parents and whānau support children’s learning at home, strengthening the relationship between whānau and kura.
The portal includes year-by-year curriculum guides, videos and resources and will be regularly updated with the latest information.
The government’s portal can be accessed via https://www.education.govt.nz/your-childs-learning or by scanning the QR code below with your phone’s camera.

Student IDs
A reminder that students using Metlink services may be asked to provide ID when they snap on or snap off public transport.
If you have not ordered an ID card for your student this year, it is not too late to do so. To request an ID card, complete the form at this link.
You will need to enter your student’s school ID number. On the parent portal this information is in the top right hand corner below your student’s name.
– Standard ID cards cost $10.
– Snapper ID cards cost $25 and provide a discount off a child fare for students who travel by bus (usually 25%).
Once you have completed this form, payment will need to be provided If students are paying by cash please give them the exact amount. When the ID cards are ready, they will be distributed by the Rōpū tutors. Please allow 10 working days from payment.
If your student requires proof of ID before they receive their ID card, they can ask Student Services to provide a letter that acts as a temporary ID.

What’s Happening?
Year 12 Drama production
Students have been practicing their 18th century swearing in preparation for our production of The School for Scandal by Richard Sheridan. First performed in 1777, the play is a classic farce about the damage that can be done with gossip. Performances run from Monday 26 to Thursday 29th starting at 6.30pm. Tickets can be booked here: https://www.trybooking.com/nz/XKU

Can you support our WHS students?
Part of supporting our young students with career education and pathways is ensuring they have chances to explore work opportunities. Evidence shows that the more exposure young people have to different types of work, the better it benefits them, in terms of employability and earnings potential. Having a part-time job or work experience is part of building lifelong skills.
If you could offer a student an opportunity to gain work experience or provide part-time employment, please email ptd@whs.school.nz
We appreciate your support.
