The Wrap Up is back, and in this mega wrap we share Toi Māori’s kōwhaiwhai inspired sign for Taka Kai the WHS canteen, and share details of the canteen’s Kindo app launch. We celebrate School Library week, share successes in Mathswell, Poetry Aotearoa, Japanese speech and Underwater Hockey, and join in celebrations for musical and sporting successes, both at home and overseas.
This week the Wrap Up brings stories of success at the national Toi Wearable Art competition, the NZ Cyber Security Challenge and World Scholars Cup. We welcome the new International students who joined us in Term 3 and shout out our support for the Persian Food and Dessert fundraiser taking place at Newtown School today. We look back at Blank Canvas, celebrate our finalists in the IHC Arts Awards and Smokefree Rock Quest and recognise international selections in U19 Floorball and Dragon Boating.

This week we celebrate our ākonga who performed in Te Whakataetae Kapahaka Tuarua o te Whanganui-a-Tara ki Ōtaki this morning with some photos from their dress rehearsal. We also have updates from our other talented students, from Rockquest to book quizzes to past alumni!
It has been a busy week here at WHS! A group of our students were invited to the Peter Cullen breakfast to share their ideas on strengthening democracy in New Zealand. In music news, not only do we have Rockquest finals this weekend, but we also celebrate several other achievements from our talented students. All that and more in this week’s Wrap Up!
In this week’s Wrap Up we have some important updates regarding the PPTA industrial action and the year groups that will be rostered home for the rest of the term, as well as some updates from over the long weekend, including the WHS Big Band, who competed in the Manawatū Jazz Competition!
Following Dominic’s mid-term message focusing on the need to nurture the individual, their talents and unique pathways, this edition of the Wrap Up celebrates students following their own pathways. From creative writing in the Fresh Avocado, to Scarlett Connolly’s journey as a Korean language learner, and sporting achievements in climbing, volleyball and more, our rangatahi impress and inspire us with their range of talents, dedication and skill.
The Wrap Up also shines a light on our recent Pasifika Families dinner, features updates from Counselling, and important information for all households from FENZ and Te Whatu Ora.
