Managing the pressures of school life
The pressures of school life can come with some anxiety and stress. This is totally normal and a little stress can help you to perform better. To help you navigate any particularly stressful times, here’s a collection of simple, practical tools and strategies you can use right away.
Advice from our Student Wellbeing Ambassadors:
If you become overwhelmed by your workload, here are three things you can do to ease that stress:
- Prioritise! Don’t try and do everything at once. You could list your tasks in order of importance and tackle them one at a time. Think about how big each assignment is/when they are due.
- If you have a big task to complete, try breaking it down into smaller pieces so that it doesn’t seem quite so intense. For example, if you have an essay to write, break it down into components – planning, introduction, first paragraph, etc…
- Take regular breaks. Even if it feels like there isn’t enough time, it’s important to put yourself first and allow yourself time to rest. Even if it’s just getting a snack and a glass of water, taking yourself away from what you’re doing for a moment can be so helpful.
