Need some help managing exam or assessment pressure?
For many Year 12s and 13s with study leave coming up and external exams to prepare for, this can come with some anxiety and stress. This is totally normal and a little stress can help you to perform better. If you are looking for some advice on how to manage exam or assessment pressure, NZQA have some information for students and their whānau here. They recommend a short read about study stress written by rangatahi for rangatahi in the Lowdown. All the best for the rest of the term! Do contact us if needed.

What’s Happening?
Spirit Week
For the first time in 2025, WHS has celebrated Spirit Week. This Student Council initiative is something that our outgoing Year 13 students hope will become part of their legacy to the school community. Spirit Week has seen each day with its own focus: from Wild West (with authentic archery bow and a lot of cowboy hats and boots), to Senior Citizens day including lunchtime bingo, and Herentagahi Day with students dressing in their junior herengatahi colours. This week has emphasised the whakawhanaungatanga that is an intrinsic part of WHS’s wairua and will hopefully become a regular fixture in the WHS calendar.
WHS Senior Art Exhibition
Celebrate the talent of our Visual Art students’ at the Annual WHS Senior Art Exhibition. Curated art portfolios will be on display on Tuesday 21 October at the Riley Centre. Invitations have been extended to parents and caregivers of senior students exhibiting work.
Painted Word
On Wednesday, year 13 Painted Word students made the most of some of the art that Wellington has to offer by visiting a variety of galleries. The highlight was a slow looking tour at Te Papa led by Maytal Noy, who along with two other WHS students, Ash Cole and Sophie Olshaevskaya, has been training under the tutelage of the gallery’s education team.
These student run experiences are occurring at Te Papa this Saturday for the general public. Here is a link for further information.
