Seven students, along with Dr. Kerry Parker, went to the NZ physical oceanography talks at Nga Taonga. There were six very interesting speakers who gave short presentations on the science and art of the ocean.
Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to talk to the speakers and ask them questions.
I found it a very interesting afternoon and inspiring for people who would like to do science because it shows what you can do with science. I really enjoyed talking to the speakers and getting a first-hand account of what it is like to work in oceanography.

Well done to Year 10 student Heidi Coleman, who Captained her team for the Girls’ Premier 2 grade finals at Porirua Park. She also scored three of the teams five tries.
Porirua College came away with the win at full-time, but the game was brutally contested by both teams.
