Important Information

Senior Practice Exams

All students in Year 11—13 will be sitting practice examinations between Friday 24 August — Thursday 30 August. 2018.

The timetable, student instructions and a revision advice booklet have been shared with students this week and are also available online. You can find them via the Student Hub, and also on the WHS website (under ‘Students’ > ‘Senior Practice Exams 2018’).

A letter has been emailed to all Year 11-13 whānau this week.


Level 1 Science Practice Exam tutorials

After school tutorials (3.30pm – 4.30pm) for the upcoming practice exams will be running in week 3, 4 and 5 in S304.

  • Week 3 Tuesday 7 August – Focusing on the skills required to Achieve in Acids and Bases
  • Week 3 Thursday 9 August – Focusing on the skills required to gain Excellence in Acids and Bases
  • Week 4 Tuesday 14 August – Focusing on the skills required to Achieve in Genetic Variation
  • Week 4 Thursday 16 August – Focusing on the skills required to gain Excellence in Genetic Variation
  • Week 5 Tuesday 21 August – Focusing on the skills required to Achieve in Mechanics

Fresh Avocado: latest edition out now

The second edition for 2018 is now available online, featuring poetry from Zachary Taylor, Ri Theodore, Sienna Williamson, Cadence Chung and Atom Gush.

This edition features a villanelle (an old poetic form featuring repeated lines), a love letter from a scientist, and much more. Congratulations and thank you to these students, who will all receive a $20 book voucher for their efforts.

Kapa Haka Fundraiser

Computer Science Whiz!

Matthew Corfiatis is one of our year 13 students and he is also undertaking first year university study in computer science. Matthew has recently received his first trimester results where he received A+ in both of his subjects. Matthew also works as one of our computer technicians and he has been a wonderful addition to our support staff, spending tireless hours helping other students in the school with their computers.

We are immensely proud of him as he forges a career in the computer science area.


Sports and Cultural Photos

On Tuesday 21st August (week 5) we will have our Sports and Cultural Photos in the Riley Centre starting at 10am.  All sport players will need to bring their playing uniform to have their photo in.

Registration for Summer Sports

Summer Sport sign up sheets are now up on the sports noticeboard, this is also advertised in the school notices.  Please come and register for the following Sports; Tennis Lessons, Tennis, Futsal (Juniors Only), Volleyball (Juniors Only), Ultimate Frisbee & Cricket.
