The outdoor education classes have had a busy start to the year making the most of a great summer. All classes have been involved in an aquatics program that focuses on risk management and stand up paddle boarding. We have had some amazing days on the water a highlight being a 2 and a half hour stand up paddle from our base at Worser Bay to Ward Island and some great days surfing at Lyall Bay.
Whanganui River Trip
The outdoor education department have just completes their annual Year 12 Whanganui river adventure. This involved a 3 day 90 km paddle from Whakahoro to Pipiriki. Not only is this a great paddle, students experience a sense of self-sufficiency and isolation.
On Sunday the 13 March 2016, WHS Ultimate Frisbee team competed in a local Ultimate Frisbee Tournament held at Hutt Valley High School. We came 2nd with five wins, one draw and one loss.
The team combined and worked very well together and are looking forward to the National Secondary Schools Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in Taupo in April.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTIONS
Board of Trustees Newsletter is an update on what has been happening at WHS from a Board perspective. With the triennial elections for Trustees, the Board is keen to get the school community thinking about standing for this very important role at Wellington High School.
There is a video here which will answer some questions about becoming a trustee.
If you have any queries about this, you can contact our Board Chair, Ganesh Nana on firstname.lastname@example.org
