Amy Vaculik-Hamilton will be competing in October in the up coming The Barry Sheene Oceania Challenge. It is a Cross Tasman Motorcycle Racing meet which is held alternatively in Australia and New Zealand. This year it is being held at Hampton Downs, south of Auckland.
A special feature of the event will be a focus on ‘women racers’ with International Guest Maria Costello MBE from England. Maria was the first woman racer to podium at the Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy), received her MBE ‘for services to motorcycling’ in 2009 and published her auto-biography in 2012, ‘Queen of Bikers’. She will be joined by twenty women racers from Australia and New Zealand in what promises to be a very festive event, one of which is Amy.
