The Hospitality Standards Institute and Southern Hospitality run the New Zealand
Junior Hospitality Competition,of which  the Wellington Regional Heats were held Friday June 4.

Students who entered in both static displays and live kitchen cookery were

Gold medal and Winners of the Schools Challenge - William Griffin and Craig Montgomery
The Schools Challenge requires students to prepare and present four identically plated entree dishes and four identically plated main dishes within 90 minutes.
They presented a Caramelised tomato & Boconcini Tart with Rocket Leaves and Balsamic Glaze and Anchovy Almond stuffed Lamb Rack with Garlic Potato Mash, Pea Puree, Roasted Baby Beetroot and a Red wine Jus.

William and Craig will be representing Wellington, this August in Auckland. In preparation for the event HSI and Weltec will support them with extra training at Weltec.

  All students who entered put in a lot of work and are to be commended for their outstanding effort. 

The competitors start with one hundred points. A Bronze medal represents 71-80 points, Silver 81-90 and Gold 91-100. They are assessed by chefs from Weltec and the NZ Chef's Association.
