Minister Anne Tolley presented Principal Prue Kelly with a Cognition Education Excellence in Leadership Award at the regional National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA) last week.

The Board nominated Prue for this National Excellence in Teaching Award last year.  As part of the process last week she had to make a presentation to a selection panel and started it by saying – Kia ora I am one of many leaders at Wellington High School - a wonderful school across the city.

When telling the community about the Award Prue acknowledged the staff’s importance by saying: “And that’s what I am; one of a set of wonderful leaders here at High.  I am constantly humbled by the depth of our teachers’ knowledge about teaching and learning, their willingness to be learners themselves and the energy, enthusiasm and stamina that they show as they work to ensure every student here has a chance to achieve to the best of their ability.   So my award is our award.  Well done Wellington High School!”
