Sports Ambassador Workshops
High received a visit on December 3 from SPARC New Zealand Sports Ambassador Bevan Matene (Martin).
Bevan is a retired Black Sox player (member of the NZ World Champion softball team) and professional athlete.

Bevan delivered two workshops to a selection of our junior students.
The sessions covered themes such as dreams, motivation, time management, attitude and “no regrets”.

Bevan drew from his personal experiences and used short films made by Cameron Duncan in discussing these issues.  Cameron was an extraordinarily talented young New Zealander who died of cancer at age 17.
He was a promising young New Zealand film maker who captured the attention of many.
Bevan screened two short films, DFK648 and Strike Zone, a movie involving his love for softball.
