High skaties pipped for top spot

Skateboard Intercollege Competition

On Friday 30 October the first intercollege skateboard competition was held at Paraparaumu Skate Park.

Wellington High School students vs Kapiti College.
Three judges were present to mark the skaters as they went through their routines. Each skater had two heats and a group of finalists were selected for the final skate off.

The winners were:
1st – Kapiti College 2nd – Jade Michalick, WHS 3rd – Billy Papatsoumas, WHS

Prizes were provided by Cheapskates to the top 3 skaters.

This was a fantastic event and special mention must go to teacher Tim Gibbs for the organisation. It will definitely be repeated in 2010.
