Certificate in Learning Skills - a Yr 9 and 10 programme

Wellington High developed an innovative programme to ensure students develop the habits of a learner and have specific goals to work for in the junior school.

Families sign the school Learning Agreement when they enrol in Yr 9 and students work to earn credit towards the certificate in each of their courses.

Students are expected to earn at least 80% of their credits to receive a Certificate in Learning skills and free selection of courses in NCEA level 1.

Students who earn 90% and above gain a Certificate of Distinction and those with 95% and more receive High Distinction.

Credit progress reports are sent home at the end of every term.

Students graduate at the end of Yr 10. Those who do not graduate are directed to a targeted NCEA level 1 course.
