Learning extension at High caters for the many needs of students ranging from learning difficulties to gifted and talented. Wellington High is committed to mainstreaming and inclusive classrooms where everyone's learning needs are known and met.

The school has a Learning Support faculty lead by two Heads of Faculty Brian Cast And Ann MacGregor. They are experts in learning behaviour and curriculum modification. Their team includes specialist teachers, teacher aides, in- class supporters, RTLBs and counsellors

Student needs are assessed and their needs met through;

  • in-class interventions
  • remedial groups
  • interactive computer programmes
  • acceleration
  • enrichment programmes
  • family conferences and education programmes

Students with ongoing resourcing have access to the learning unit ( called Base One) with specialised opportunities that ensure safe mainstreaming.
